Maintaining a solar power system
Associated issues

- Due to the large number of measurement locations, you can’t write down all the measured values.
- Creating reports is extremely time-consuming.
- Caution is necessary from a safety standpoint since you’re measuring high DC voltages.
Solved by GENNECT Cross!
- Since all measured values are transferred by Bluetooth®, there’s no need to write anything down.
- You can create reports while making measurements.
- You can ensure safety by using a voltage probe that can accommodate up to 2000 V. Concentrating on work

Measurement parameters
The circuit breaker for every string in the junction box must be measured. With 300 strings per megawatt, a large power plant can have thousands of measurement locations.
Measurement parameters | Circuit breaker status | Instrument used | Precautionary information |
---|---|---|---|
Insulation resistance | Disconnected | ||
Open-circuit voltage | Disconnected | The measurement range is 1000 V or less. | |
By using the P2000, you can measure up to 2000 V DC. | |||
Short-circuit current | Disconnected | The circuit is safely shorted inside the instrument for measurement, eliminating the need for a shorting jig. | |
Short-circuit current | Connected | This current clamp meter is designed for use in the confined spaces of junction boxes. |
Measurement using GENNECT Cross
Because they have numerous measurement locations and measurement parameters, PV systems require long measurement hours in the field, followed by long hours creating reports in the office. You can use GENNECT Cross to both save time and improve quality.
Using standard measurement function
- As you measure parameters like voltage, current, and insulation resistance at circuit breakers in the junction box, values are recorded each time you press the instrument’s hold button.
- Measured values can be linked to photographs and maps of measurement locations.
- You can output data as a CSV file and create PDF reports.

Using the photograph/drawing measurement function
- You can place measured values on a photograph of the junction box.
- Gain a visual understanding of measurement locations and measured values.
- You can output PDF reports.
